Yoga that Soothes the Soul

Guy Matthews began his interest in yoga at an early age reading about ancient civilizations and their practices. At around twelve years of age his sister Sylvia brought him to a yoga class. It was not until years later that his interest peaked again and his partner recommended they attend a yoga
retreat weekend. That was 1986 and since then he has continued to practice and teach yoga with influences from several traditions.
Guy had a wake up call in the middle of his real estate career in the 80's and experienced several bouts of burn out. He turned to yoga to find balance in his life again embracing a holistic lifestyle.
Through the skillful teaching of instructors he completed his Kripalu Yoga teacher certification in 1995 and advanced teacher training in 1999. This style emphasizes listening to the wisdom of the body, creating a uniquely authentic practice for each participant. Guy creates a lighthearted and safe environment to explore your body, mind and soul. Through his gentle approach he enjoys assisting others to find greater peace and harmony in their everyday lives.
In 2000 he branched out and opened a yoga based wellness business called West Coast Yoga with an emphasis on reaching into the business community. Guy is a guest teacher at retreats and conferences in Canada and the USA. He leads retreats helping people to reconnect with their inner self.

Sound Healing with Crystal Sound Bowls

Sound Biography
In 1995 Guy came upon a sound healer in Canada by the name of Dendara Sky who assisted him in “opening” to sound healing and the crystal singing bowls. He incorporates sound into his yoga classes and has taught workshops to introduce the art of bowl playing as well playing at concerts and special events in Canada and the USA.He has understudied with a variety of sound practitioners and continues to explore new realms of sound as a healing modality. He is currently working on the release of a new CD and sound workshops. His sessions are experiential, accessing intuitive insight to deepen the awareness process of experiencing the healing effects of the crystal bowls.
